How to Keep Water at Bay:Tips for Protecting your Home

We came across a few tips to protect your home from future water damage.  Read below to Learn more.
1. Block water from Entry points such as Roof Shingles, Gutters and Downspouts, windows and doors, and Foundations, basement floors, and walls.  Keep an eye out for missing shingles, clogged gutters and downspouts, broken sealing around windows and doors, as well as cracks in the foundation.  All these issue can cause minor to major water damages.  Don't overlook small cracks.  These could lead to larger issues in the future.  Better to fix them when damage is minimal.

2. Put in a Second line of Defense. This can be accomplished by elevating boilers and furnaces and by installing an alarm system to monitor impending danger for water and temperature extremes.

3. Buy the Right Insurance. When purchasing home insurance be sure to see if your insurance covers flood.  In areas prone to water damage from the surrounding environment  most insurance include that cost but it's better to be safe than sorry.

4. Act fast if Water Pours in. Be sure to take care of water damage immediately.  Turn off pipes and call in a damage restoration company.
